I'll say one thing about the new lineup set to appear on "Dancing With the Stars" — they are an eclectic group, including an Olympic athlete, a nutball NFL wide receiver, a bona fide American hero . . . and Pamela Anderson.

So let's meet the guys and gals who'll be dancing their way into our hearts when the new season debuts later this month:

Buzz Aldrin: Astronaut, walked on the moon with Neil Armstrong during the historic Apollo 11 mission; seems kind of old and too well-respected to be doing something like this - although did allow himself to be interviewed by Sacha Baron Cohen's Ali G, who throughout the interview called him "Buzz Lightyear." Heh!

Pamela Anderson: B.C.-born former Playboy Playmate and Baywatch/V.I.P. star, although the ol' acting career seems to have taken a nosedive. And since promoting P.E.T.A. don't pay the bills . . .

Erin Andrews: Sports reporter for ESPN, who became famous when a peeping perv with a hidden camera posted a topless video of her on the Internet.

Shanne Doherty: After becoming a big TV star on the original Beverly Hills: 90210, has been slowly self-destructing ever since.

Kate Gosselin: Mother of octuplets, ex-wife of tabloid train-wreck Jon Gosselin, was formerly on the cover of every magazine every printed. But now that nobody cares about her anymore, DWtS is a great opportunity to extend those 15 minutes of reality-show fame!

Niecy Nash: Played bad cop Raneesha Williams on "RENO 911!" and, a few failed sitcoms later, it's dancing time!

Chad Ochocinco:
The NFL star who changed his named from Chad Johnson is kind of nutty.

Jake Pavelka: Former "Bachelor"

Nicole Scherzinger: No idea. Really. OK, I'll look at the press release . . . oh, she was in The Pussycat Dolls. Whatever.

Evan Lysacek:
Figure skater, just won a gold medal at the Olympics.

Aiden Turner: Sorry, never heard of . . . wait, him or her? Back to the press release . . . oh, it's a guy, and he's British, used to work as a chef and a DJ, and now plays somebody on "All My Children."

So there you have it. The new season kicks off on Monday, March 22.
