So I’m in a post-session scrum with Al Pacino (who’s here to promote his upcoming HBO movie about “Doctor Death” Jack Kevorkian), doing the walk-and-talk with about 25 other journalists.

The "Godfather" star, looking vaguely Kramer-like with his hair standing straight up, comes to a small set of stairs, suddenly appears to lose his balance, and seems poised to fall backwards.

There’s a collective gasp, HBO publicists lurch forward in horror, when Pacino springs up and it’s instantly apparent he was faking us out.

“Now that’s acting,” he says impishly before he’s whisked away to the green room.
