NBC is having a downright pitiable year, stuck in fourth place, its Jay Leno primetime experiment proving to be a dismal failure, while analysts predict the Peacock net will lose $600 million. What else could possibly go wrong?

How about labour troubles? According to the New York Observer, the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians (which represents thousands of NBC employees) is frustrated over stalled contract negotiations with the network, is threatening to put the kibosh on NBC's annual "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" broadcast, scheduled to air next Wednesday.

"We can't let the Grinch at NBC steal another Christmas from thousands of honest working people," says union president Ed McEwan in a press release. "Christmas is supposed to be a time of goodwill, but the network's management is trying to hide behind their fancy lights while leaving their employees in the dark."

Meanwhile, the union has launched website, NBCstoleChristmas.com, outlining their various grievances, kind of how Seinfeld's Frank Costanza used to celebrate Festivus. Also feature on the website is the following poem:

"Every Who in the crew liked the Christmas tree lighting a lot
But the NBC grinch just didn't see
Without them, the lights would light not."
