Poor Conan . . .

In the wake of David Letterman's big announcement last night, the biggest loser in the whole situation may not even be the guy who tried to shake him down for $2 mil — it could be Conan O'Brien.

It's bad enough that Letterman has been consistently beating Conan's "Tonight Show" in the ratings by a healthy margin, but who's going to watch Conan tonight?

A talk-show host with his very own scandal? It's like having Hugh Grant or Kanye West as a guest every night.

That's TV gold.

Letterman probably doesn't see it that way, but I wouldn't be surprised to see his ratings increase in the wake of last night's announcement: www.tvweekonline.ca/blog/letterman_extortion_shocker

And look for "Tonight Show" ratings to dwindle even further than they already have.
