Is Vancouver DJ Holly Conway Heading to Broadway?

If you’re familiar with Holly Conway, you know that she is always teeming with personality and absolutely never at a loss for words.

That’s one of the major reasons why she’s among Vancouver’s most listened-to radio personalities, and as such, now finds herself a candidate in Regis and Kelly’s "Women of Radio Co-host for a Day" contest – the same sweepstakes that CTV weathercaster Tamara Taggart won last year.

Conway – who hosts the afternoon show on The Beat (94.5 FM) – tells me that just a year ago, she likely couldn’t have imagined being in Taggart’s place.

"I remember having Tamara on the air with us last year at this time just before she flew to New York to co-host with Regis, and thinking to myself, Can you imagine – that would be so in-freakin'-credible! And here I am a finalist to do just that! It hasn't sunk it yet".

As the sole radio gal from British Columbia, Conway finds herself whittled down from the nearly 100,000 entries to sit among the hundred finalists, and now must anxiously await the word on Monday as to whether or not she’s make this year’s Top 10.

It’s even a bit of a fluke that she’s in the running at all.

“I got to work one morning and my boss Curtis walked up to me and said "Can I see you in my office for two minutes?", needless to say, I was a little scared until he said to me "Guess who I got a call from: Live with Regis and Kelly!"

I couldn't believe it, mostly because I didn't even enter myself; our family friend Helen did. She asked me to send her some pictures and some audio of my show because she was entering me to co-host with Regis and of course I did it, but NEVER thought I'd get the call. It also turns out that because I was the only radio girl in B.C. to be picked, I'm representing The Beat, CHUM Radio, CTV, Vancouver and all of beautiful British Columbia.”

The response among listeners has been massive, as have been the views of her video audition.

"I'm nervous and super excited at the same time,” she tells me. “The question I've gotten the most so far is, if you win what are you going to wear?"
