Gossip Girl of the Future

When last we enjoyed the gossip on the Upper East Side, the group was reeling from Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair's (Leighton Meester) car accident as well as Charlie/Ivy's reveal that she's not who everyone thinks she is. So how would Gossip Girl resolve these problems?

Two words. Time warp.

We join up with the crew three months down the road. Blair, no surprise, lost the baby. Chuck made a miraculous recovery, and for that miracle, he can thank Blair. But not all is good among Manhattan's elite.

Blair believes that her prayer, in which she promised to God that she'd stay with Louis (Hugo Becker) if Chuck's life was spared, worked. So when Chuck survived, Blair felt she needed to make good on her end of the bargain. This also meant Chuck was out of her life again.

As one might expect, this presents a problem for Mr. Bass who seemed poised to make a runaway bride of the future princess. But now that Blair's essentially ignoring him, he seems dead set on figuring out what changed her mind. Unfortunately for Chuck, Blair has an unbendable will. The only person she tells her true feelings to is Serena (Blake Lively).

Blair says of Chuck, "I still love him...I feel dead inside without him." She then speaks of Louis, offering the less than glowing endorsement, "I don't NOT love him."

This whole reveal is couched within a broader suspicion that Blair is cheating on Louis with Dan (Penn Badgley). That scenario is so improbable that only Lonely Boy himself could dream it up.

As for Charlie/Ivy, something strange is afoot. Lily tracks down Charlie Rhodes at Julliard. But it's not the Charlie Rhodes we all know and love. It's the real Charlie Rhodes.

There's also a whole story line about Gossip Girl going into hiding and Nate (Chace Crawford) potentially being the real target in the car "accident" that nearly claimed the lives of Blair and Chuck. So much to discuss in such little time.
