Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam
8 p.m., Family
Summer may almost be over for the rest of us, but it’s just beginning for Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers as they return to Camp Rock for the sequel to their hit 2008 movie. When they arrive, they’re shocked to find out that a new state-of-the-art music and performance camp called Camp Star has opened across the lake and lured away many of the campers and counsellors. Before you can say “old-fashioned plot device,” Camp Star’s Luke Williams (R&B star Matthew “Mdot” Finley) challenges Camp Rock to a musical showdown, while Nate (Nick Jonas) falls for the daughter of the owner of the other camp (played by classical pianist Chloe Bird).
Trashopolis
2 p.m. & 7 p.m., History
If you missed the premiere of this new series on Thursday, here’s your chance to catch up on this show that should really be hosted by Sesame Street’s Oscar the Grouch. After all, it uncovers the underground secrets of some of our most famous cities — like Paris, Rome, London and Cairo — by delving into their garbage. By looking at the archeology of each city’s trash, we can learn about its history in an entirely original and fascinating — if rather messy — way.
After Elizabeth II
7 p.m. & 10 p.m., Newsworld
Not to be morbid or anything, but Britain’s Queen Elizabeth is 85, leading many to wonder who will be chosen as her successor once she passes on. Should it be the scandal-plagued, royal cheat Charles, who’s been waiting patiently to take over the job these last few decades, or should it pass directly on to his first-born son, William? Tonight, royal watchers weigh in on this touchy debate, with the public consensus seeming to favour William over Charles — anything to prevent Princess Diana’s still-despised love rival Camilla from becoming Charles’ Queen Consort.
CSI: NY
9 p.m., CTV & CBS
The first rule of CSI is you do not talk about CSI. The detectives uncover an underground “weekend warrior” fight club when they find the body of a retired boxer buried on a construction site. The second rule of CSI is you tune in for this one, even if you’ve seen it before.
Fish Hooks
9:30 p.m., Family
Three fish living in a pet shop called Fish Hooks face typical high school challenges in this new animated series.
My Architect
10 p.m., Knowledge
This 2003 Oscar nominee for Best Documentary follows one man’s search to uncover the story behind his father, the renowned architect Louis Isadore Kahn.
