High Society

9:30 p.m., The CW

It takes a very special show to reach such levels of stupidity and shallowness that Gossip Girl seems like Masterpiece Theatre by comparison, but this new reality show manages to pull it off. The “star” of this train-wreck reality show is spoiled Manhattan socialite Tinsley Mortimer, who is shown hanging around with her fatuous friends Dabney Mercer, Alexandra Osipow, Jules Kirby, Paul Johnson-Calderon and Devorah Rose as they indulge in parties, sex and scandal in order to, well, kill time, we suppose, since they seem to have nothing else to do. How dumb and loathsome are these people? “I’m just coming off of a huge Page Six scandal where I was accused of lifting some girl’s purse,” whines Mortimer. “That purse was like my Paris Hilton porno.” When a show is this bad, viewers can be forgiven for wanting to check it out at least once — if only to prove to themselves that it’s as horrendous as we say it is.

The Price Is Right

10 a.m., OMNI & CBS

Talk about time flying! It seems like just yesterday that Drew Carey took over the daytime game show from Bob Barker, and now the TV funnyman is celebrating his 500th episode as host. In honour of today’s special episode, each contestant called to “come on down” will receive US$500 in cash.

Howe & Howe Tech

6 p.m. & 11 p.m., Discovery

It’s a family affair as identical twins Mike and Geoff Howe and their wives (who, oddly enough, are sisters) push their engineering ingenuity to the max to invent some crazy machines that could mean the difference between success and failure for their small business, Howe and Howe Tech. In tonight’s episode, the duo perfect a mini-tank called “The Badger.”

Billy the Exterminator

7:30 p.m. & 11:30 p.m., A&E

It’s a creepy, crawly job getting rid of pests, but somebody has to do it. Learn a few tricks of the trade (you never know when you’ll find yourself needing to capture a beaver or confronting an angry raccoon) from Billy Bretherton and his family as they try to balance family life with running their Louisiana pest removal company, Vexcon, in the second season of this reality show.

America’s Next Top Model

8 p.m., 'A' & The CW

Cycle 14 is as good a time as any to shake things up, and this long-in-the-tooth reality competition is certainly no exception. This time around the Top Model contestants are packing their bags and heading to New Zealand. And since ratings have been dropping for the last few seasons, series creator/host Tyra Banks felt it would be best to bring the show back to its roots by searching for models five-foot-eight and taller, rather than those five-foot-six pipsqueaks who competed last season. In addition, fans of the show should also expect to see some changes at the judging table, with flamboyant Vogue editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley joining fashion photographer Nigel Barker. And, just to keep things interesting, a different guest judge will sit in each week to offer some fresh insight. The claws are out, so let the catfights begin!
